What's On for HK Families This Weekend: 1–3 May 2026

It’s the Labour Day long weekend, which means an extra day to actually do something with the kids instead of scrolling for ideas at 9am on Saturday. Here are four things worth getting off the sofa for.

Central: PMQ Picture Book Library

Local illustrator Kinchoi Lam’s work is whimsical and sweet — think cozy picture-book vibes for younger kids who love stories and art. The PMQ space is small but lovely, and $20 for a day ticket is genuinely reasonable for what it is.

  • Open Wednesday–Sunday, 1pm–6pm through June
  • PMQ, Central

Repulse Bay: Bookazine Family Fun Day

Free event with storytelling, slime-making, crafts, and games. It’s running Sunday 3 May, 10:30am–4pm, near the beach — so bring sunscreen and make a half-day of it.

  • Free entry
  • Near Repulse Bay beach

Cyberport: Stained Glass — Luminous Lexicon

This is the last day for this one (closes 3 May, 12pm–6pm). The installation deconstructs traditional stained glass to explore how geometry, colour, and imagery have shaped myths and legends across cultures. Older kids who are into art and visual stuff will get a lot out of it — and honestly, so will you.

  • Closing 3 May, 12pm–6pm
  • Cyberport

Hung Hom: Star Wars Night Run & Day Market

Registration for the costumed run is closed, but you can absolutely show up to watch. Participants run in full Star Wars gear from 1 May, 3pm–9pm at The Whampoa. Great free entertainment if you’ve got a kid who will lose their mind at a parade of Darth Vaders.

  • 1 May, 3pm–9pm
  • The Whampoa, Hung Hom
