What's On for HK Families This Weekend: 25–26 July 2026

Looks like rain is on the horizon in Hong Kong but thankfully it’s summer, so there are both indoor and outdoor activities to keep your kids occupied this weekend.

Sha Tin: Yip’s Children’s Choir – Alice in Wonderland Opera

A proper children’s opera (co-commissioned with Zürich Opera!) with seven professional singers performing Alice in Wonderland complete with insanely elaborate costumes. You might not understand the language but you’ll definitely get the vibes! Best for ages 4+.

Causeway Bay: Chinese Myth & Legend Storytelling

Free Sunday morning storytelling at Hong Kong Central Library’s Children’s Activity Room, continuing the Chinese mythology series with crafts included. Call ahead to reserve — only 30 family spots per session. Canto only.

  • 📅 Sunday 11am–12noon · 💲 Free (but call to book!)

Tai Po: Monthly Children Takeover at Luk Heung Commons

A community space hosting their monthly kids’ day with BYO Playscape (kids build their own play structures — genius), messy art play, and a collaborative wind wall project using flattened aluminium cans. Free, creative, and a lovely community vibe — the Tai Po trek is worth it.

  • 📅 Saturday 11am–5pm · 💲 Free

Tai Po: “Tree” Puppet Theatre Performance

A Canadian magical forest puppet show where kids can try musical instruments, play with puppets after, draw magic trees, and even dress up as forest animals. Intimate (Black Box Theatre), interactive, and a great sensory play session for 1 to 3 year olds.

  • 📅 Sat–Sun, 11am / 3pm · 💲 $320 (kids half price)
  • Details / Book

Wong Chuk Hang: Waterplay at Pao Yue Kong

Splash into summer at Pao Yue Kong Swimming Pool’s water play area — such a bargain at just $19 (free for kids under three!), with a new mall nearby for a post-play meal. Slides, sprays, and shallow splash zones perfect for little ones to cool off.

  • 📅 Everyday except Tuesday, 6.30am–6pm (exc. noon–1pm) · 💲 $19 (under 3s free)
  • Vibe check / Details

Bonus: Pici is doing kids eat free this weekend (25–26 July) — a free kids’ menu dish with every adult set ordered. Handy for a post-activity refuel.
